Prepare yourself
- Take a Ghusl(If not possible, Wudhu will suffice)
- Trim The Nails
- Remove Unwanted Hair
- Trim Moustache(For Men)
Ihraam clothing
IHRAAM FOR WOMEN
Normal clothing. No gloves. Keep the face uncovered except in the presence of non-mahram men.
Hanafi;
Highly recommended.
Shaafi’ee;
Compulsory to wear socks.
IHRAAM FOR MEN
2 unsewn pieces of cloth - not tailored into garments such as a thobe, shirt or trousers.
Hanafi;
Exposure of ankles & metatarsal bone.
Shaafi’ee;
Exposure of ankles.
Ihraam must be worn at or before the Meeqaat, not at Jeddah.
Salaatul Ihraam
These 2 units of prayer are Nafl (optional)
After performing 2 units of prayer, males should remove headwear.
Fardh Salaah is more important than these 2 units of prayer
Intention & Talbiyah
“O Allaah, i intend to perform ‘Umrah/Hajj, solely for Your Pleasure, so accept it from me and make it easy for me”. (any language is acceptable.)
Upon reciting the Niyyah & Talbiyah, you enter the sacred state of Ihraam. (consecration).
لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ، لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ
Labbaik, Allaahumma Labbaik, Labbaik, Laa Sharika Laka Labbaik. Innal Hamda Wan-Ni’mata Laka Wal-Mulk, Laa Sharika Lak.
I respond to Your call O Allaah! I respond to Your call. You have no partner. I respond to Your call. All praise, thanks, and blessings are for You. All Sovereignty is for You. You have no partners.
Wisdom of Ihraam
- Rich and poor Stand equal before Almighty Allaah.
- A reminder that we leave this world with only a shroud.
- Cultivates humility and encourages sincere repentance.
